Bestway Voyager 500 inflatable fishing boat

Click here for more details about Voyager 500 inflatable boat.

I bought this boat 3 years ago and I've used it many times in different situations. I've used it everytime to go fishing. The size is perfect for 2 men. They say 4 on the package, but don't try to go fishing with 4 men in this one. There is simply not enough space. Ok, we've been 4 someday: me, my wife and our 2 kids for a little ride on the lake, but not with all the fishing gear.

Last spring, I went fishing with a friend of mine at a lake with no trail to get there. We had to do about 200 feet in the deep woods to get to the lake. This boat is simply too heavy for this. Ok, we've made it... but I wouldn't do it twice.

Since I couldn't find the motor rack, I've manage to create my own motor rack out of copper pipes and wood. I used a 38lb trust trolling motor and it's perfect. I can go around the lake all day on my deep cycle battery. I've created 2 wood seats and a wood floor which hads a lot to the comfort.

The boat is truely great and with a 12v air pump, you are ready to go within 15 minutes with all gears onboard and trolling motor ready. I use a cheap 12v air pump with my deep cycle battery I use for my trolling motor, and I finish the inflation with a hand air pump.

If you are looking for a cheap boat or something you can carry in your car trunk, this is a great boat to start with. I wanted the cheapest boat to go fishing. I wouldn't pay 700$ for an inflatable boat. Next one will be an aluminum type of boat with a trailer. But I'll go fishing for the next months and maybe next years with this one.

  1. Hey

My father and I have just bought 2 voyager 500's, and we are having real trouble with the inflation, we cant seem to get it right, if we follow the measuring system theres pretty much no air in it, and we have tried to just guess the amount of air, so that it looks like yours in the pictures, and can hold the electric motor and fishing rods up, and has no wrinkles. Just wondering whats the best way to inflate it?
